Project “Ecce-Homo” Day Social Centre - Botosani
1. Introduction aspects:
Botosani city is situated in one of the poorest areas
of Romania. Because of the geographic position, the city is
considered a “finish line”, the economical development being
reduced.
The general estate of the people is pessimistic, many of them
thinking that the place is without any perspectives, fact that
makes only few students come back after finishing their studies
in other cities. As well, many people decide to emigrate
in Western Europe, looking for a better life.
The city is well known for the poverty in which many families
grow their children. Many of these children can’t benefit of an
adequate space to learn, even if some wish to learn, the parents
can’t provide the necessary conditions (some of the families,
because of the debts they are having, are cut off from the
electricity).
Through this project we are trying to help and support these
children by putting at their disposal one room adapted to their
needs (heated, lightened, with furniture) where they can be
helped by competent people to learn the elementary rules of
hygiene, behavior and how to do their homework.
The Ecce-Homo Christian Organization develops social activities
in Botosani for 10 years now. A number of 260 families were
socially assisted, as well as financially and spiritually.
Usually, after 3 years of assistance, the family is replaced
with another one, considering that in the 3 years the family was
assisted and supported in taking decisions meant to bring
changes or give direction to solving the problem. To continue
the spiritual work in some of the withdrawal families as well as
with the assisted families, we intend to have weekly meetings in
this location, where they can hear the Gospel and the people to
be motivated and get closer to God. Presently, these meetings
are being held in the home of a family that used to be in our
assistance, but the place is becoming too small for all the
people that wish to come.
2.The purpose of the project is to offer the
chance to approximately 25 children from the poor families to
avoid the scholar abandon, offering them a adequate room to a
help and support them in the homework. We also aim the
evangelization of their parents thought the weekly meetings.
